3.19.3 Vehicle identification plate. A vehicle identification plate shall be permanently mounted to the operator's compartment. The data plate shall include the following:
a. DoD AGENCY
b. REGISTRATION NUMBER
c. NOMENCLATURE
d. NATIONAL STOCK NUMBER (NSN)
e. MANUFACTURER'S NAME, ADDRESS, AND SERVICE NUMBER
f. MANUFACTURER'S MAKE AND MODEL NUMBER
g. MANUFACTURER'S SERIAL NUMBER
h. VEHICLE CURB WEIGHT
i. GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT (GVW) J. CONTRACT NUMBER
k. DATE OF DELIVERY (MONTH AND YEAR)
l. WARRANTY PERIOD
3.19.4 Instruction plates. All warning and instruction plates normally installed by the manufacturer, describing procedures and safety, shall be supplied and mounted on the vehicle.
3.19.5 Marking. A license plate bracket or holder shall be provided and mounted at the rear of the vehicle. All tie-down locations with their capacity, the fuel type, and tire pressures shall be stenciled in black at their immediate areas.
3.20 Winterization. When specified (see 7.3), the truck shall be furnished with Type C
winterization that shall consist of the following:
a. Protection to -25° F
b. Starting aid. Glow plug(s) or a measured-shot ether inJection system shall be furnished.
c. Cab. The cab shall meet the requirements of paragraph 3.9, and shall also contain thermal insulation, to meet the heating requirements listed below in part (d).
d. Cab heater and defroster. The heater shall have sufficient capacity to maintain a temperature of at least +40° F (cab level) and an ambient temperature of -20° F.
e. Antifreeze. Engine coolant shall be protected to -25° F with antifreeze.
3.21 Tropical rust proofing. When specified (see 7.3), tropical rust-proofing shall be provided. This should be considered a premium rust-proofing package usually consisting of an additional coating. The truck shall be treated with a corrosion preventative compound complying with A- A-59295. A copy of A-A-59295 can be requested from 642 CBSG/GBEC. Many of these vehicles are used in tropical/coastal environments and experience high humidity and salt spray. They usually exhibit high levels of corrosion in the areas listed below. At a minimum, these areas shall be coated: (1) cab interior, (2) cab exterior, (3) seams, (4) welds, (5) hidden recessed areas, (6) locations where dissimilar metals come in contact, (7) area above fuel tank(s),
(8) engine oil pan & transmission oil pan, (9) radiator support structure, and (10) battery box.
