C-53039 (polyurethane) may be used in lieu of MIL-C-46168. Vendor part and components received by the prime contractor with either alkyd primer or alkyd paint coating may be coated with above specified primers and paints applied directly over existing alkyd primer or paint without additional service preparation except for cleaning, if the base alkyd primer or paint meets applicable military federal specifications and if the base alkyd primer or paint is allowed to cure for a period of 14 days. This exception for vendor parts and components is not intended to supercede the requirement that the complete truck be primed and painted in accordance with MIL-T-704 using the primers and paints specified above. If another color is specified (see 6.2), the above system shall be overcoated with MIL-C-46168 or MIL-C-53039 of the desired color.
3.25.1 Walkway coating. Floor plates and step surfaces shall be coated
with a nonslip coating compound or be furnished with a nonslip metal surface.
3.26 Identification marking. All identification, instruction and marking plates shall conform to MIL-P-514, of type I, style 1, Composition C (GG-P-
455, type I, grade A, class 1) material. All plates shall be securely attached by screws, bolts or rivets in a conspicuous location, and shall be furnished and mounted by the contractor. The truck shall be identified with an identification plate located in a visible and safe location. The identifying data to be applied to the identification plates shall be as indicated herein as defined in MIL-STD-130. The truck shall also be equipped with instruction, warning, and caution plates conforming to MIL-P-514, type III, composition C (GG-P-455, type I, grade A, class 1), and describing any special or important procedure to be followed in assembling, operating, loading and servicing of the truck and its components.
3.26.1 Shipping data plate. A shipping data plate conforming to MIL-P-
514, type III composition C (GG-P-455, type I, grade A, class 1), shall be furnished and in addition shall show the silhoutte of the truck in transport position indicating the center of gravity. Wheel loading information specified in 3.26.2 may be combined in one plate with the requirements specified herein.
3.26.2 Wheel loading plate. Each truck shall be equipped with a wheel loading plate conforming to MIL-P-514, type III, composition C (GG-P-455, type
1, grade A, class 1). As a minimum, the plate shall have the following information:
Wheel loading (no load on forks) Drive wheels (each) pounds Steer wheels (each) pounds
Wheel loading (gross vehicle weight) Drive wheels (each) pounds Steer wheels (each) pounds
3.26.3 Safety rating. When type DS truck is specified (see 6.2), each truck shall be equipped with a safety designation plate conforming to MIL-P-
514 type III, composition C (GG-P-455, type 1, grade A, class 1). As a minimum, the plate shall indicate truck manufacturer's name, truck's complete model number, safety designation (type DS), independent testing laboratory's
