TEST METHOD NO. 2
LIFTING SPEED - LOWERING SPEED
1. Test Procedure:
a. Measure and record distance in inches from floor to top surface of forks in fully lowered position.
b. Record time in seconds required to raise rated load to maximum fork height using timing device. Record the difference between maximum fork height and the height of the forks in the lowered position.
c. Record time to lower rated load at maximum speed (full open valve) to
3- to 4-foot height. Load to be abruptly stopped at the 3- to 4-foot height.
d. Repeat steps (b) and (c) a minimum of three times, except no measurements are required.
e. When nuclear safety is required, determine lowering speed immediately before forks contact ground. If a single stage lift cylinder is provided, no additional demonstrating is required but lowering speed determined above shall not exceed 65 feet per minute. If a
multistage lift cylinder is provided, forks with rated load shall be lowered until further lowering will cause constant speed descent. Record time to fully lower from this point and the distance traveled by forks. Calculated lowering speed shall not exceed 65 feet per minute.
